The Blue Hole, Bells, Scuba Diving - all three words have become a triptych description to what scuba divers have known for years – Dahab is the place to be for some memorable scuba diving. The staff at Octopus Divers would disagree strongly that the Blue Hole is the best dive site in Dahab (we all have our little secrets), but people from around the world keep asking to dive Bells/Blue Hole and there is a reason for this. The site is typically geared towards the advanced divers,
but those wanting shallow dives would have an excellent time exploring the outer rim of the Blue Hole – assuming one does not get troubled looking down a sheer 600 metre wall of coral and rock. For the advanced diver, the entry is will be the ‘bells’. Think of Quasimodo as you manoeuvre the tower’s shaft to a depth of 28 metres. Upon exiting you remember the grace that scuba divers are privy to and hover along a wall dropping to over half a kilometre within a few steps from the shore. Drifting to the saddle of the famous Blue Hole, where you will exit and end the dive, you will pass incredible coral gardens, over-hangs, and many different species of marine life. Watch out for the odd shark in the morning, or turtle in the afternoon, or vertigo when getting through the Blue Hole :) There remain two other ways to dive the Blue Hole...well three, but we won’t go into the third. The two guide-able ways are possible if ask real nice or you happen to be a Diver from Turkey (Hello Nesib!) who doesn’t want to do anything but Canyon / Blue Hole for three days straight.
